Copied at the Wilkes County Courthouse in Washington, Georgia, September 2006, transcribed by Marshall Styles: This Indenture made this 22nd day of August One Thousand seven hundred and Ninety Between Thomas Hughes planter of the County of Wilkes and State of Georgia of the one part and John Colley of the County and State aforesaid, Witnesseth Thomas Hughes for and in consideration of fifty pounds Sterling thereby to him in hand paid receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge, hath bargained sold aliened in fee simple and confirmed and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell, in fee of a lien and confirm unto the said John Colley his heirs and assigns forever, One certain Tract or Parcel of Land containing sixty two acres, Situate Lying and being in Wilkes County, butting and bounding southeast by Zachariah Henderson North East by Morgan’s and Farmer’s Land North West by Daniel Young’s and Terrell’s Land, and South West by Anthony’s Land _?_ old Warrant having such shape, form and marks, Natural and Artificial as are expressed in a plat annexed to a Grant dated and Surveyed the 13th day of August one thousand seven hundred and eighty five; Including the improvement with all and singular the rights Members and Appurtenances thereof whatsoever to the said Tract or Parcel of Land, belonging or in any wise appertaining thereto, also all the Estate, right and title, interest claim or demand of him the said Thomas Hughes hereof in the same or in any part thereof. To have and to hold the said sixty two acres of Land and premises with appurtenances unto the said John Colley his heirs and assigns forever and the said Thomas Hughes doth for himself and his heirs and assigns that he the said Thomas Hughes and his Heirs shall and will warrant and defend said bargained premises and land to the said John Colley his heirs and assigns against Thomas Hughes his heirs and assigns, and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever, in witness whereof the said Thomas Hughes hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year above written.
