Indenture bet Thomas Oglesby & John Wilkerson et al 09 Mar 1840 Wilkes Co, GA WILKES COUNTY, GEORGIA, DEED BOOK 000, p. 104 Know all men by these presents that I, Thomas I. Oglesby, of County and State aforesaid, have this day granted, bargained and sold unto John Wilkerson and Garrett Oglesby, Senior, the following property, to wit: 1 buggy and harness, 3 beds and furniture, 1 brass clock, 1 yoke of white oxen, and the crop now planted and about to be planted, 1 folding table, and the tract of land whereon the said Thomas I. Oglesby now lives which he purchased of John Landrum. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal (this) 9th day of March, 1840. Now the consideration of the above obligation is such that the said Thomas I. Oglesby has this day made his promissory note to John Wilkerson for seventy-six dollars and ninety-three cents due the 25th day of December next and one other note payable to William D. Bradley for fifty-seven dollars dated the 13th day of November, 1839, and due the 25th day of December, 1840, on which the said John Wilkerson and Garrett Oglesby, Senior, are securities and one other note payable to Garrett Oglesby, Senior, dated this day and payable the 25th day of December next for ninety-three dollars and ninety-five cents. Now if the said Thomas I. Oglesby does well and truly pay or cause to be paid the above described notes so as to satisfy the said Wilkerson and Oglesby on the notes due to them and release them from their liability as security to the said Bradley, then the above obligation to be void, else to remain in full force and virtue. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 9th day of March, 1840. Signed, sealed & delivered Thomas I. Oglesby in presence of: Walter Knox Lemuel W. Cade Recorded 6 April, 1840. ==================================================================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
