Copied at the Wilkes County Courthouse in Washington, Georgia, September 2006, transcribed by Marshall Styles (This is a very poor copy): Georgia} Wilkes County} Whereas by the Last Will and Testament of my husband John Owens Sen’r, deceased, provided _?_ that the Negroes belonging to the Estate of the said Deceased, that at my decease be divided amongst my children and heirs. I have thought _?_ proper this day to give to my children the following Negroes (to wit) To my Son Dempsey C. Owens the following Negroes (to wit); Rose, Jerry and Lucretia. To my daughter Serena Sharman the following Negroes to wit: Minny and child Eliza, Polly & Charles, and to my daughter Frances Colley the following Negroes to wit: Polly, Amy & Caroline, and to their heirs and assigns Separately and not jointly and their future increase and interest forever of the said Negroes. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal, this first day of January 1819. Copied at the Wilkes County Courthouse in Washington, Georgia, September 2006, transcribed by Marshall Styles: Georgia} Wilkes County} Whereas by the last will and testament of my Husband John Owens, Senior, Deceased, it provides that at my Death all his Estate both real & personal should be equally divided between his said children & whereas I have thought proper this day to give and bequeath unto my Three Children, Dempsey C. Owens, my Daughter Serena Sharman now the wife of John Sharman and my Daughter Frances Colly now the wife of Francis Colly each of them & to their heirs forever separately and distinctly the following lots or parcels of land – being three fourths of certain tract of land originally granted to Richard Coll and also that tract purchased by my said husband John Owens, Sen’r, of Bedford Brown and then sold by my said husband John Owens Sen’r to my son John Owens Jun’r and him the said John Owens Jun’r having deceased without issue or heirs, then the said land becoming by the consent of my said children as part of my said husbands estate I do then fore give as aforesaid unto my son Dempsey C. Owens lott number one joining William G. Gilbert containing one hundred four acres & ¼; To my daughter Serena Sharman lot number two joining Andrew Russell and others containing one hundred & four ¼ acres and to my daughter Frances Colly lot number three containing one hundred & four ¼ acres.
