Know all men by these presents that I Phebe Stinson of said County for an in 
consideration of the regard and afffection I have for the children of Bethney 
Reeves wife of Thomas Reeves of the State of Alabama which she now has or 
hereafter may have give unto the said children a certain negroe Girl named 
Jinny about Eleven or Twelve years old and her increase for their own proper 
benefit and behoof and the said Bethney mother of said children is to have the 
use of said negroe Girl as long as she the said Bethney shall live. And be it 
known and expressly understood that the said negroe Girl Jinny and her 
increase is not subject to the control of Thomas Reeves Husband of the said 
Bethney nor in any manner liable for any debts he has heretofore contracted or 
may hereafter contract and that the said Thomas shall have no authority to 
hire out sell or dispose of said negroe Girl Jinny or any of her increase nor 
to receive any of the benefits of the said negroe Girl whatever. But I do give 
the said negroe Girl Jinny for the sole use of the said Bethny’s children with 
the exceptions stated in this instrument above. Further I price the said 
negroe Girl at three hundred dollars which sum I consider to be apart if not 
all of the said Bethneys legacy after my death. Be it known that she is to 
have no part of my estate until each one of the other legateees have received 
an equal amount of my estate then she the said Bethney can draw an equal share 
with all my other children
