This Indenture made and entered into this Eleventh day of March Eighteen 
hundred and thirty Seven Between William Q. Anderson and Nicholas G Barksdale 
Administrators on the Estate of Phebe Stinson Dec’d of the one part and Thomas 
Anderson of the other part Witnesseth whereas _____ application to the 
Honorable the Inferior Court of Wilkes County while Sitting for ordinary 
purposes by the above William Q Anderson and Nicholas G Barksdale 
Administrators as aforesaid for Leave to Sell the real Estate of Phebe Stinson 
Dec’d the Court granting the Same and ordering a Sale thereof he said William 
Q Anderson and Nicholas G  Barksdale did advertise and open to Sale pursuant 
to the order a certain tract or parcel of Land known as the G_ves Tract on the 
first Tuesday in January last past at which time the said Thomas Anderson 
became the best and highest bidder (vez) bidding the amount of Thirty Six 
Hundred and Fifteen dollars.
   Now for and in consideration of the said sum of thirty six hundred and 
fifteen Dollars in hand paid to the said William Q Anderson and Nicholas G 
Barksdale Administrators as aforesaid by the said Thomas Anderson at and 
before the Sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is 
hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and Sold and do by these presents 
grant bargain and Sell and convey unto the said Thomas Anderson his heirs and 
assigns all that tract or parcel of Land situated lying and being in the 
County & State aforesaid on the waters of Fishing Creek having such shape and 
marks as the attached platt represents and delineates (vez) Beginning at a 
Hickory coroner (sic) running N56º45W87.75 chains to a Spanish oak coroner 
Thence S84ºW13°70 chains to a fence coroner Thence S45ºW9.60 chains to a Sweet 
Gum coroner thence S65ºW13 chains to a Pine Stump Thence S45ºW17.56 chains to 
a rock coroner Thence S43½ºE91 chains to a post oak corner Thence N56ºE30 
chains to a Sweet Gum corner Thence N5 chains to a porsimmon (sic) corner 
Thence N56E38 chains to a Black oak corner Thence N68ºE23 75 chains to a 
Hickory corner     the Beginning containing as proported by said Surveyor 
seven hundred and Eighteen acres be the same more or less to him and his own 
proper use benefit and behoof forever in fee Simple
   And we the said William Q Anderson & Nicholas G Barksdale administrator as 
aforesaid unto the said Thomas Anderson his heirs & assigns shall & will 
warrant and forever defend the title of said bargained Land & premises with 
all & singular the appertenances thereunto belonging against ourselves and 
against the claim or claims of all & Every other person or persons whatsoever 
So for farther as we are authorized & required by law as administrators 
aforesaid and no farther
   In testimony whereof the said William Q Anderson & Nicholas G Barksdale 
administrators hath hereunto set their hands & affixed their Seals the day and 
date first within written
