Indenture bet Powhattan Thurmond et al & Garrett Oglesby 21 Dec 1833

WILKES COUNTY, GEORGIA, DEED BOOK MMM, p. 166

This indenture made the twenty-first day of December in the year of the
Lord eighteen hundred and thirty-three between Powhattan B. Thurmond
and Thomas N. Thurmond of the State and County aforesaid of the one
part and Garrett Oglesby of the same County and State on the other
part.

Witnesseth that the said Powhattan B. Thurmond and Thomas N. Thurmond
for and in consideration of the sum of sixteen hundred and fifty
dollars to them in hand paid by the said Garrett at and before the
sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby
acknowledged, hath granted, bargained and sold and, by these presents,
do grant, bargain and sell unto the said Garrett Oglesby, his heirs,
and assigns, all that tract or parcel of land situated, lying and being
in the State and County aforesaid on the waters of Pistol Creek
containing six hundred and twenty-two acres, be the same more or less,
bounded more particualrly as follows.

Viz., beginning at a small persimmon on Pistol Creek N19E, 52 to white
oak;  thence, on William Williamson's land N32E, 64 chs. to a red oak;
thence, on Thomas N. Thurmond's land N42W, 27.50 to a white oak;
thence, down the various windings of said branch 16.50 to a poplar;
thence, on William Norman's land S86W, 12 chs. to a poplar on Wood's
Branch;  thence, with Goolsby's land N78W, 33 chs. to white oak;
thence, up the meanders of said branch to a willow oak S10E, 6.50 a
white oak;  thence, down the various windings to a white oak S75E, 10
chs. to a chinquapin;  thence, down said creek to the beginning
persimmon.

To have and to hold all the said bargained premises together with all
the premises and appurtenances thereunto belonging.  And the said
Powhattan B. and Thomas N. Thurmond, their heirsand assigns, the said
tract of land, together with all of its rights, members and
appurtenances, will warrant and defend against the claim of themselves,
their heirs, and all other persons whatsoever unto the said Garrett
Oglesby, his heirs and assigns, forever.

In witness whereof, they have set their hands and seals this twenty-
third day of December, 1833.
