Indenture bet Frederick Wittick & Garrett Oglesby 02 Dec 1824 Wilkes Co, GA WILKES COUNTY, GEORGIA, DEED BOOK HHH, p. 503 This indenture made the second day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty-four between Frederick Wittick of the County of Wilkes of the one part and Garrett Oglesby of Wilkes County and Robert Hamilton of the County of Elbert and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Frederick Wittick, for and in consideration of the sum of fifteen hundred dollars lawful money to him in hand paid, and the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained and sold and confirm unto the said Garrett Oglesby and Robert Hamilton, their heirs, executors, administrators and assigns forever, all that tract or parcel of land lying in the County of Wilkes on Newford Creek known by the name of the mill tract containing by estimation three hundred acres with and including the mill and stills and all other improvements thereon being part of two surveys granted to Holman Freeman, bounded on the east by said Wittick's land, on the south by land belonging to the estate of Jesse Norman, on the west by William Saffold, and on the north by Smith's land, beginning on a corner made in the original line for land sold to Williams; then on the said original line, N25E to a corner pine; then, N65W to a corner black oak on the north side of Newford Creek below the mill 31 chains; then, S40W, 30 chains to a corner pine; then, S30W, 40 chains to a post oak corner; then, on the new line made for William Saffold to the beginning corner supposed (to) be about 64 chains. To have and to hold together with all and singular the rights, members and appurtenances belonging to the said tract of land and the improvements thereon or in any way appurtaining thereto and he, the said Frederick Wittick, do by these presents warrant and defend the said tract of land with the improvements thereon, all and every part thereof, against all rights, titles and claims whatsoever to the said Garrett Oglesby and Robert Hamilton, their heirs, executors, administrators and assigns forever, to them and their only proper use, benefit and behoof in fee simple.
