September 30th, 1793 Geo. Medlock, Capn. 1st C 1st B 4th R Wilks C Milita Additional Comments: This transcription was a “labor of love” and it is hoped that this file will help those who are seeking records for their personal family history research. Of the men listed in this manuscript, Mordica Jacobs (Mordecai Jacob), Rifleman, was my 3rd Great Grand Uncle. Mordecai was also the son of my Patriot ancestor, Benjamin (& Eleanor Odell) Jacob, originally from Prince George’s County, Maryland. The family moved from Maryland to Georgia after the Revolutionary War. NOTE: I have done my best to keep true to the actual spelling of all words and the punctuation as written by hand on the original papers/manuscript by Captain George Medlock. Written on the reverse side of these 3 papers/sheets: "Capt. Medlock’s Muster Roll 1794, Capt. Medlocks Muster Roll 64, & Captn. Medlocks Muster Roll." Any data found in parentheses (!) will be of my own input. Col. = column. This file has been proof read, by Fred S. Malone. Transcribed from purchased, 17" x 22", copies of original manuscript housed in the department of archives and history. The information contained in these papers can also be found transcribed, but condensed (gives data in columns 1 – 4 only) in, "Georgia Military Affairs," Volume 1, 1775 - 1793, pages 457 - 459, in the department of archives and history.
