Hicks Autaugaville Alabama Dear Sir: Reference is made to your letter in which you request the Revolutionary War record of Lewis Cookson Davis. The data pertaining to Lewis Cookson Davis furnished herein were obtained from papers on file in pension claim, S. 32199, based upon his service in the Revolutionary War. He was born in 1757 in Hanover County, Virginia, names of his parents not given. While a resident of Fluvanna County, Virginia, Lewis Cookson Davis enlisted sometime in February 1777, served as a private in Captain Brown’s Company, Colonels Parker’s and John Allison’s Virginia regiments, was in the battle of Chestnut Hill, wintered at Valley Forge, in the spring marched into New Jersey, was in the battle Monmouth, and at the storming of Stony Point was in Captain Quass’ company, Colonel Fobiger’s Virginia regiment, and was discharged after serving three years. Four years after the Revolution he moved to Wilkes County, Georgia and lived there about thirty years, then moved to Morgan County, Georgia and lived ten years and then moved to Autauga County, Alabama. He was allowed pension on his application executed December 3, 1833, at which time he was living in Autauga County, Alabama. The papers in this claim contain no reference to the family of the soldier, Lewis Cookson Davis. In order to obtain the date of last payment of pension, name and address of person paid, and possibly the date of death of this pensioner, you should address the Comptroller General, General Accounting Office, Records Division, Washington, D.C., and give the following data: Lewis C.
