One of the parties, Gabe Grant, lives on Ben Cade’s place, 3 miles from town and the other is a negro child on Aris Lindsey’s plantation, 4 miles north of the city. Dr. John Hill has seen the Grant negro and says it is a genuine case of smallpox. The disease is supposed to have been brought from Atlanta by a negro woman named Sissy Stark.
