Mr. Fanning, who lived alone, was discovered and physicians stated that he had apparently been dead for approximately two hours and from natural causes. He was a native and life-long resident of Washington, a son of the late John Wootten Fanning and Gertrude Harrison Fanning, also of Washington. Mr. Fanning was a member of the First Methodist Church, and the Parr Ficklen Sunday School class. He operate a poultry farm at his suburban home. Funeral services were held at four o'clock Friday afternoon at the First Methodist church. Mr. Fanning who was never married, is survived by a brother, John William Fanning, of the University of Georgia, Athens; two nephews, John M. Greene, of Anderson, S. C., and John William Fanning, Jr. of Statesboro; a niece, Mrs. R. W. Cook, of Eau Gallie (?), Fla; three aunts, Mrs. Jim Gresham of Washington; Mrs. Lu-Catie Chew, of Crawfordville and Mrs. J. H. Hunter, of Stephens - The Washington News-Reporter. Additional Comments: In the title of obit, Wooten was spelled with 1 t; first line of obit his name was spelled with 2 t's.
