W. Sherrer In th sic) of Mrs. G. W. Sherrer Sunday morning at 8 o'clock, Wilkes County lost a woman of wide influence, one dearly beloved by countless friends. As the wife of the well known Dr. G. W. Sherrer, now in his 84th year, she had through many years made their home in Rayle one of good cheer and abounding hospitality. Before her marriage she was Miss Ida Evans, born and reared in Wilkes County. Funeral services were held at Sardis Baptist church at three o'clock Monday afternoon, with her pastor, Dr. John D. Mell, of Athens, officiating. Interment took place in the cemetery adjoining the church. Besides her husband, Mrs. Sherrer is survived by two daughters and two sons: Mrs. Angus Richards, of Crawfordville, Mrs. Rupert Farmer, of Nicholson, Harold and Claude Sherrer of Thomson. Among the out-of-town relatives who were present for the last rites were Miss Emogene Richards, George Richards, of Crawfordville; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Durham, of Thomson; Mrs. Will Sherrer and Miss Mattie Griffith, of Athens, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Power, Mrs. George Richards, and Mr. Claude Norman Richards, of Crawfordville. The pall bearers were Will Smith, Clarence Durham, Horace Lunceford, Paul Evans, Howard Hardy and Lester Hardy.
