Solid South,  December 19, 1885
Gen. Robt. TOOMBS died at his home in Washington, Wilkes County, last Tuesday 
evening at 6 o’clock. He had been ill for many months. He was buried Thursday 
morning in the city cemetery of Washington. Thus another distinguished Georgian 
has gone.
