Gen. Robert Toombs Dead.
On Tuesday evening, Dec. 15, at 6 o'clock, death closed the eyes of one of 
Georgia's most illustrious citizens.  Gen. Robert Toombs is no more! He died 
at his home in Washington, Georgia, where, on July 2, 1810, he was born--
having lived to be 75 years, 5 months and 13 days old. 
The late hour at which the news of his death reached us precludes further 
comment on the death of this noble and chivalrous old man until next week.
