Will of John Burdett, Wilkes Co. GA From: Meredith Clapper John Burdett of the subscribing witness to the annexed will and that he saw the testator sign, seal, and acknowledge the same to be his last will and testament and at the time of his so doing he was of sound and disposing mind & memory and that this ?deponant? subscribed the same as a witness together with Duncan Glampbile and Felix G May who are both since deceased. Sworn to before us the 5th of March 1832 Thomas Woothen, JJC Lewis P Brown, JJC A G Lemmes Georgia Wilkes County: I John Burdett of the county aforesaid being of sound mind & disposing memory and knowing that it is appointed for all men to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament. I recommend my soul to God who gave it and my body to be decently burried (sic) after my death. Item 1: I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Elizabeth Bell Mullikin the tract of land where on she and her husband Benjamin Mullikin now resides on after her husband Benjamin Mullikin pays the sum of money that I am security for him to Lane Sims, and what I have given her heretofore I think is equal to three hundred. Item 2: I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Sally Woodruff one negro girl Lucy, and the property that I have given her heretofore I think is equal to two hundred and seventy five dollars. Item 3: I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Nancy Wright one negro girl Maria, and the property I have given her heretofore I think is equal to three hundred dollars. Item 4: It is my will and desire that the balance of my [estate] be kept together after my just debts are paid until my children amass to lawful age and as they become of age if they make their part to receive three hundred dollars as their part until the youngest comes of age, and should my beloved wife die before my youngest child comes to be twenty one years old, my will is that the children be schooled as the rest and be raised out of my estate. Item 5: It is my will and desire that my three children that is married have nothing more of my estate during my wife's life and after her death and my youngest child comes of age if any at all should amount to more than three hundred dollars a share that they all have are equal share of the balance. Item 6: I do hereby constitute my beloved wife Deborah Burdett and James Burdett and Nathaniel Wright my Executors to this my last will and testament in testimoney whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this third day of December 1828 Signed in the presence of us R.
