Wills: Wilkes County, Will of Robert Carlton LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF ROBERT CARLTON 11 March 1796 In the name of God, Amen. I Robert Carlton of the County of Wilkes, State of Georgia being _____ infirm but of sound & perfect mind & memory do make, ordain & declare this my last will & testament. Item _____, I give & bequeath unto my daughter Patsey one negro man named Phill & one negro girl named Rhoda with her increase to her & to her heirs forever, also one feather bed & furniture. Item, I give & bequeath unto my son Robert that part or parcel of the tract of land on which now live lying below a marked line beginning a few yards below Muekles (?) ford, and running from thence to a small Hickory Corner, from thence to Col. Taliaferro's red oak corner (?) to him & to his heirs forever also one negro man named Lue & one negro girl named Aggy with her increases to him & his heirs forever, also one feather bed & furniture. Item, I give & bequeath unto my son Jacob the residue of the tract of land on which I live, also one negro man named Will & a negro girl named Jane with her increase one bed & furniture to him & his heirs forever which he is to put into pofsefsion of immediately after my death whether of age or not. Item, my will is that the remainder of my estate after payment of all my just debts be equally divided among the ______of children ____, my daughters Lucy, Rebeckah, Catherine & Patsey, loving son Robert & Jacob.
