Jane Statham In the name of God Amen I Jane Statham of the County of Wilkes & State of Georgia make and declare this to be my last will and testament in manner and form following to wit I give and bequeath to my son Augustin D Statham my negro boy Jerry I give and bequeath to Augustin D Statham in trust for my son Richmond W Statham my negro boy Alfred the profits arising from my said negro boy Alfred to be applied to the necessities of the said Richmond W Statham by the said trustee, should the said Richmond W marry and have children the trustee will imediately vest the said boy Alfred in the children generally of the said Richmond W If the said Richmond should die without lawfull heirs the said Boy Alfred revert back to my children generally. I give and bequeath to my daughter Susan Harrell Statham the following negroes to wit Anderson a man Eliza a woman and her two children Angeline & Simon?, and Caroline a girl, and her heirs forever and in case the said Susan Harrell should marry and die leaving no child or children the said negroes to revert back to my children generally. I give my Tract of Land in Carrol County to my Children Generally and finally I give and bequeath the residue of my effects both real and personal after my debts & funeral expences are discharged to the Children of my daughter Rhoda Quin to be equally divided among them by my Executors I do hereby appoint my son Augustin D Statham and John T. Dent Executors of my last Will & Testament In witness whereof I have hereunto affixed my hand and seal this twentieth day of January 1831 Jane Statham (seal) Signed sealed published & delivered by the said testatrix, as and for her last will & testament in presence of us who at her request in her presence & the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto Jos H Burks, Clifton O Mahoney, John D Hinton Georgia Wilkes County In Chambers July 15th 1831 Personally appeared before us Lewis S Brown & William C Allison two of the Justices of the Inferior Court of said County Joseph H Burks & Clifton Mahoney two of the subscribing witnesses to the annexed? will who being sworn deposeth and says that they saw the Testatrix Jane Statham sign & seal and heard her acknowledged the same as her last will and testament and at the time of her so doing she was of sound disposing mind & memory and that they subscribed the same as witnesses in her presence and at her request together with John Hinton Jos H Burks Clifton O Mahoney Sworn to & Subscribed before us this 15th July 1831 Lewis S Brown J.J.C. William C Allison JJC Additional Comments: Jane Statham was the widow of William Statham, who died in Lincoln County, Georgia in 1822. She was the daughter of Augustine Davis and Mary Jeter.
