All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Ben McLaughlin noranben@bellsouth.net September 23, 2003, 10:14 am Source: Wilkes County Wills 1792-1801, pages 157-158; Unbound Estate Case File of Thomas Wynne Written: 1789 Will of Thomas Wynne, Wilkes County, 1789 Wilkes County Wills 1792-1801, pages 157-158 I Thomas Wynn (sic) of the County of Wilkes & State of Georgia being far advanced in life & considering that all men, do once die do hereby make ordain constitute and appoint this and no other my last will and testament that is to say. ~ Item I desire that after I am my body may be buried in a Christian like manner and as touching my worldly goods which it hath pleased Almighty God to bless me with, I dispose of in the following manner: ~ ~ ~ First of all I direct that all my just debts be paid and satisfied. ~ ~ ~ ~ Item I give and bequeath unto my Wife Mary Wynn that part of my land laying on the upper side of the large road it being the part on which I now live and in case my said wife should die before my two daughters Rhodea and Lucy should mary (sic) then they both or either of them together with my son Thomas to have possession of the said land so long as they my said daughters continue unmarried or should die & no longer after which time I give the land altogether to my son Thomas Wynn. ~ Item I give unto my two daughters Rhodea & Lucy each one feather bed & furniture. ~ Item I give unto my wife Mary Wynn all the stock of horses cattle & the rest of the house hold furniture I am now possessed of also six thousand and twenty nine pounds weight of tobacco now in possession of Dickson & Bostick Inc factors at agustia (Augusta?) together with all the crop of corn and tobacco I have growing this year, I also give and bequeath unto my aforesaid wife Mary Wynne (sic) two Negroes the (unreadable) named Dick and the other Jenney with all their children during her life afterwards to my son Thomas. - Item I give and bequeath unto my son Obadiah the land on which he now lives it being on the lower side of the large road ~ I desire that all the remainder of my Negroes theretofore mentioned be equally divided amongst all my children my son Thomas only excepted ~ according to the discretion of my executors hereafter mentioned. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Last of all I do hereby appoint my trusty and well beloved wife Mary Wynne my son Obadiah and Sanders Walker Executors of this my last will & testament. ~ ~ In witness thereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty ninth day of Agut. Winn, and this I acknowledge to be as good as my bill of sale for the above negroes, this paper is to be given up at any time after the money is paid. Carter the sum of Eighty eight(?) pounds and 4 shillings on account of the within 30th May 1799 Letic (sic) Winn ____________________________ State of Georgia Wilkes County By David Terrell Registar of probates for said County------------- These are to authorize and empower you or any three of you whose names are hereunder written to appraise the Goods, Chattels and Credits of Thomas Wynne late of this County deceased, in current money of this State, so far forth as the same shall come to your sight and knowledge: You having first taken your oath before any Justice of the Peace for said County well and truly so to do a Certificate of which you are to return annexed to the appraisement and when you have the same so appraised you shall return an Inventory thereof signed by you or any three of you unto Obadiah Wynne the (unreadable) Executor of the (unreadable words or abbreviated words) on or before the 7th day of July next.
