Bowen be and he is appointed Guardian of the persons and property of Ennet F. Mason, Joicy M. Mason, Mary J. Mason, Nancy J. Mason, C. Francis Mason, Rachel C. Mason, Amanda E. Mason, James A. Mason, and Offa A. Mason, orphans of Theophilus Mason, late of Wilkinson County, Dec'd, he giving bond and Security in the sum of twenty five hundred dollars." (Submitted by Melanie Atkins, gg granddaughter of Nancy Jane Mason who married John G. Napper/Napier in Wilkinson Co.) Note: Theophilus Mason, born in Onslow Co., NC, had connections in both Laurens and Wilkinson Co., GA. The land he purchased in Laurens Co., GA, in 1822, was originally surveyed in Wilkinson County. About 1821 or 1822, he married Didemma Cannon, daughter of Rev. War soldier, Nathaniel Cannon who is buried in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Wilkinson Co., near the Laurens Co. line. About 1837 or 1838, Theophilus died without leaving a will. The guardianship record was found in the estate records of Wilkinson County, and William N. Bowen, who was appointed guardian, was a grandson of Nathaniel Cannon.
