Barfield of the county of Wilkinson of the first part, and the Central Rail Road and Banking Company of Georgia, of the second part. Witnesseth, that the said party of the first part, in consideration of the sum of two hundred and eighty ($280) dollars, paid at or before the sealing and delivery of these Presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, has granted, bargained, sold, aliened, conveyed and confirmed, and by these Presents does grant, bargain, sell, alien, convey and confirm unto the said The Central Rail Road and Banking Company of Georgia, all that parcel of land, situate in the county of Wilkinson, and State aforesaid being part of the lands of the said party of the first [part], select by said Company, as the track of the Central Rail Road, between the cities of Savannah and Macon, and which parcel of land is of the width and extent following, that is to say: from station ninety one hundred and eighty seven (9187) to station ninety two hundred thirty two and three fourths (9232-3/4) more or less, and in width eighty two and a half feet from the center of said road each way. The party of the first part to have the right of cultivating the land on either side of the road not otherwise used by said Company, and the party of the second part binding itself to build two pits for the accommodation of the party of the first part, and to allow him to build a third one in case he shall think it best to do so. To have and to hold the said parcel of land, with the hereditaments, rights, members, and appurtenances thereto belonging, unto the said The Central Rail Road and Banking Company of Georgia, its successors and assigns, in fee simple, absolute. And the said party of the first part and his heirs, the said parcel of Land above conveyed, with the appurtenances, unto the said The Central Rail Road and Banking Company of Georgia, its successors and assigns against all and every other person and persons whomsoever, shall and will warrant and forever defend, by these Presents. In witness whereof, the said party of the first part hereto set his hand and seal the day and year aforesaid. Signed, sealed and delivered in presence of F. P. Holcomb Matthew Cobb William (his mark) Barfield (L. S.) Georgia, Chatham County. Personally appeared Franklin P. Holcomb, a subscribing witness to the within deed of conveyance, who being sworn saith that he saw William W.
