State of Georgia, Wilkinson County
This Indenture made this 5th day of January 1882 between John R. Barfield and 
James M. Fountain both of the State and county above written.  Witnesseth that 
for and in consideration of the sum of [blank] dollars cash in hand paid the 
receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said John R. Barfield has this day 
granted bargained and sold and does by these presents grant bargain and sell 
unto the said James Fountain his heirs and assigns all of a lot No. forty one 
in the town of Gordon Fronting Eighty feet on the North side of main street 
coming into Gordon from the East and South side of Central Railroad and 
running south to Street back of Methodist Church and by Jas. Stephens dwelling 
lot, containing one half acre more or less and half interest in lot No. 42 in 
said town adjoining said lot #41 on the East and fronting same street and 
lying broad side to said lot #41 containing half acre more or less.
To have and to hold the same together with all the rights members and 
appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the said James M. Fountain heirs and 
assigns forever in fee Simple.  And the said John R. Barfield will the Said 
bargained premises unto the said James M. Fountain heirs and assigns forever 
warrant and defend against himself and all persons whatsoever.  In witness 
whereof the said John R. Barfield has hereunto set his hand and affixed his 
seal the day and year before written.
