To all persons to whom this present schall [sic] come John Lewis administrator 
of all and Singular the good and chattles, rights and credits that were of 
Elizabeth Lewis late of Wilkinson County deceased who departed her life 
intestate Greeting.  Whereas the Honorable the ordinary of Wilkinson County 
and State aforesaid when sitting as a court of Ordinary at the regular time of 
said court holden on second day of Decbr Eighteen Hundred & Sixty seven did by 
his order authorize empower licens[?] the undersigned administrator of said 
Elizabeth Lewis deceased, to sell, to make and execute good and perfect deed 
or deeds to convey the real estate of said intestate for the benefit of the 
heirs & creditors of said estate and whereas, having previously giving notice 
required by the Statute in such cases provided at the time of said Court at 
which saith above mentioned order was passed in a public Paper printed at 
Milledgeville in the County of Baldwin called the South recorder and having in 
pursuance of such performance of said order given notice required by the 
statute in such cases made and provided of the time and place of holding 
Public sale in and for the county of Wilkinson and having on the first Tuesday 
in Decbr (1868) before the Court House door at Irwinton the said last place 
being the usual place of holding public Sale in and for the county of 
Wilkinson and between the usual hour of sale to wit:  between the hours of ten 
in the morning and four in the evening, exposed the real estate hereinafter on 
public sale at outcry John R. Barfield, being the highest bidder at said sale 
the Same real estate was Knocked off to him at the price of one Thousand 
Dollars of Lawful money, to him in hand paid by the said J. R. Barfield who 
was the highest and best bidder for said real estate at the sale, and before 
signing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby 
acknowledged do hereby grant bargain and sale alien and convey unto the said 
J. R. Barfield his heirs assigns forever the following lot or parcel of land 
to wit: (170) one hundred and Seventy acres more or less part of the lots - 
part 175 - 176 - in the Twenty seventh Dist. Wilkinson County land joines land 
of Dr. Massey on the north & east and James Dinard on the South and John Lewis 
on the west.
To have and to hold the said lot or parcel of land with the privileges and 
appurtenances thereof to the said J. R. Barfield his heirs & assigns to their 
only proper use benefit & behoof forever in fee Simple.  And the said John 
Lewis Administrator as aforesaid do covenant with said Barfield his heirs and 
assigns that said Elizabeth Lewis deceased seized and possessed of said above 
granted premises and that he was duly authorized and empowered to convey the 
same to the said J. R. Barfield and that he will and his heirs executors and 
administrators shall warrant and defend the said Barfield his heirs assigns of 
by for from or under the said E. Lewis dec'd or the said John Lewis 
Administrator as aforesaid but against no other person or persons whatever.
In witness whereoff [sic] the said John Lewis Administrator as aforesaid has 
hereunto set his hand and seal this nineteenth day of Decbr AD 1868.
