Cannon Died Saturday John M. Cannon, 82 of Winter Garden, Fla., died Saturday night in the home of his daughter in Chester, following ill health for some time. Mr. Cannon was born and reared in Wilkinson County and had resided in the Walnut Creek Community before moving to Florida several years ago. He was a member of the Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Church and leaves many friends and relatives in Wilkinson and Laurens Counties. Surviving him are four sons, Nanthan Cannon, Route 1 Danville, C. O., John, and Sam Cannon, of Winter Garden, Fla.; three daughters, Mrs. C. L. Brack, Macon, Mrs. Addie Cooper, Orlando, Fla., and Mrs. A. L. Thomas, Chester; one sister, Mrs. Carrie Davis, Atlanta. Funeral services for Mr. Cannon were held this afternoon at three o'clock from the Walnut Creek Baptrist Church and burial followed in the cemetery. The body was placed in state at the church at 2pm and remained until funeral time. Grandsons served as pallbearers. Rev. J. E. Maddox, Rev. J. E. Townsend, and Elder J. Lewis Allen officiated with Townsend Brothers Funeral Home directing. Additional Comments: John was born 3 Mar 1872 in Wilkinson County. He was married to Polly Anne Rozier who is also buried in Walnut Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
