                        HOWARD L. HAWTHORNE JR.

 Funeral services for Howard Leon "Junebug" Hawthorne Jr., 16 of Gordon, who 
died Friday in a local hospital from injuries received in a traffic accident, 
were held in the Gordon Baptist Church yesterday.

 The Rev. Overton, the Rev. C. A. Abbott, Charles Smith, and Joe Pruitt 
officiated and burial was in the Hickman Cemetery.

 Pallbearers were Carl Mixon, R. L. Chance, Nelson Chambliss, Dan Dixon, 
Everett Jernigan, Harold Shepard, Perry McNeal and H. L. Brooks.

 The youth was a life-long resident of Gordon, the son of Howard Leon Hawthorne 
Sr. and Mrs. Evelyn Lee Hawthorne. He was a senior at the Wilkinson County high 
school and was a member of the Church of Christ.

 Surviving are his parents; a brother, Robert Hawthorne; a sister, Margaret 
Hawthorne; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Hawthorne and Mr. and Mrs. Herschel 
Lee, all of Gordon, and several aunts and uncles.

 Hart's Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
