East" ****************************************************************** State of Georgia County of Wilkinson May 28, 1850 Will of Thomas Underwood In the name of God, Amen.....I, Thomas Underwood of the state and county aforesaid, being in a low state of health, but of sound mind and memory, and mindful of the obligations of disposing of my worldly goods that it has pleased God to bless me with as best to advance the interest of my children and wife, do hereby declare this my last will and testament, revoking all other. Item 1. I give and bequeath to my soul to that God who gave it; after my death I wish my body to be decently interred. Item 2. I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Elizabeth, the plantation whereon I now live,, containing 405 acres, also 20 acres off of lot No. 190, it being all that part lying on the north side of dry branch and five Negroes, namely: Phillip, a man. Bob, a man. Lucinda, a woman. Darcas, a woman; all the household and kitchen furniture and also the plantation and blacksmith tools; two choice cows and calves and heifers; one chestnut sorrel mare; 20 head of hogs, and 15 sheep. Also all the geese and the fowl on the plantation to be disposed of by her as she pleases. Item 3. I give and bequeath to my daughter, Nicey Anderson, during her natural life, or as long as she remains single; one lot of land No. 126, containing 202 & 1/2 acres and 110 acres, being a part of Lot No. 175, and an equal share of the balance of my property, on her death or inter-marriage to be equally divided between her children that may then be living. Item 4. I give and bequeath to my daughter Malinda, wife of John Gabriel Smith, 250 acres of land, being part of Lot 191 and number not known, and an equal share of the balance of my property, to be used and controlled entirely by William Parker for her benefit and comfort during her life. After her death to go to her children, and in no case is John Gabriel Smith, her husband, to have any control whatsoever of the property. Item 5. I give and bequeath to my grandchildren: Joseph Jones, Matthew Jones, Anderson Jones, William Jones and Mary Elizabeth Jones, James Jones, Nancy Matilda Jones and George Washington Jones, children of Gabriel Jones, one tract of land No. 162. One lot of land No. 194, one lot of land in Cherokee County, No. 328, in the First District and first section; and equal proportion of all the balance of my perishable propety. Item 6. I give and bequeath to my son-in-law, William Parker, one lot of land No. 192 containing 224 acres; one tract of land No. 194, and then an equal share of all my personal property that is not otherwise disposed of. Item 6. (Duplicated) I bequeath to my son, Thomas Underwood one tract of land containing 90 acres, being part of Lot No. 216 and lot of land containing 111 & 1/4 acres, it being a part of Lot. No. 229 and an equal share of all the balance of my personal property. Item 7. I give and bequeath to my son, John Underwood, one tract of land No. 195 and a lot of land No. 197 and an equal share of all my personal property. Item 8. I hereby nominate and appoint William Parker my Executor to this my last will and testament. May 28, 1850.
