M. Pye Died in Hospital Mrs. A. M. Pye, 76, died late Saturday night at the Phoebe Putney Hospital following an illness of several years. She had lived in Albany for the last 20 years. A member of the Church of God, Mrs Pye had many friends here who learn with deep regret of her death. Survivors include her husband, five daughters, Mrs. J. E. Lawson, Mrs. A. H. Butler, Mrs. George G. Butler, all of Albany; Mrs. M. W. Ruis, Doerun, Mrs. C. H. Massey, Vienna, four sons, W. L. Pye, J. L. Pye, of Albany; D. A. Pye, Doerun, W. C. Pye, Asheville, N. C., two sisters, Mrs. A. B. Shiver, Mrs. J. A. Lane, Doerun, and two brothers, J. G. S. Powell, Doerun, and J. L. B. Powell, Moultrie. They have the sympathy of friends in their sorrow. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at the Church of God with the Rev. J. W. Culpepper, of Lake Park conducting the service assisted by the Rev. J. L. Ball, pastor of the local church. Interment was in Crown Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Elton Ruis, Olin Ruis, Almand Davis, Jimmie Spence, A. H. Brooks. An honorary escort was formed by L. F. Hall, A. T. Williams, W. M. Wadsworth, G. E. Letchworth, J. E. Lawhorn, W. F. Wescott, and Dr. D. L. McLeod. The Albany Undertaking Company is in charge of the arrangements.
