SHINGLER MAN DIES IN FLORIDA

Former Shingler Resident Meets with Accident and Dies in Florida--Buried at 
Poulan Monday.

The body of Mr. Alvis hill, who died in a hospital at Orlando, Fla., Sunday was 
brought to his home at Shingler and buried Monday afternoon in the Poulan 
cemetery, the funeral services being conducted by Rev. L.L. Barr and Rev. W.A. 
Huckabee.

Mr. Hill met with a rather peculiar accident Saturday which caused his death a 
day later.  While playing ball at Winter Garden, Fla., Saturday, he was hit on 
the head.  The lick is supposed to have crushed the bones in his neck.  Soon 
after receiving the lick apparently he suffered but little.  On Sunday he felt 
so well he joined others in bathing.  As he plunged into the water he suffered 
a paralytic stroke.  He was immediately removed from the water and rushed to a 
hospital at Orlando where he died on the operating table soon after reaching 
there.

He was 27 years old and is survived by his wife, whose maiden name was Miss 
Rubie Chapman of Shingler.  He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Hill of 
Shingler.  Beside his wife and parents, he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. 
Mayyie Belcher, Mrs. Kate Trammel and Miss Glenda Hill and one brother Mr. 
Horace Hill, all of Shingler. 

Additional Comments:
Alvis Robert "Buddy" Hill married Rubie Jasper Chapman in Worth Co., Nov. 22, 
1914.  He was the son of Josiah S. Hill and Mary Julia "Mollie" Dupriest.
