Mr. William Odum Dead

Mr. William Odum of near War-
wick died Monday morning about 3
o'clock. He had not been sick very
long while we have not found out the
cause of his death. He leaves a wife
and two sons. Only a few weeks ago
his only daughter died with the influ-
enza. He was a prominent farmer
and much liked by all who knew him
He leaves three brothers and two sis-
ters. Mr. John Henry Odum who
died about a month ago was the
youngest brother of a large family.

Obituary of Mr. William Odum

Though not particularly enlightening this death notice is clearly that of 
Wm. David Odom, who was survived by his wife Lucy J.(Whitfield)-the daughter 
of George D. and Martha(Knowles)Whitfield. The unnamed sons here were: Homer 
Lucius from an earlier marriage- perhaps M. E. Harris-Worth Co. 1880, and 
Henry Doss Odom from his third(?)marriage to Lucy-in 1888.  The daughter 
noted here as recently deceased was Martha Ola, wife of Wesley Nathaniel 
Holt. Wesley N. Holt is listed on the 1920 Worth Co. census-with 2nd wife 
Ruby L.-age 18, and Ola's children Nettie L. and William J. Holt.  These two 
children-though unnamed, were later accounted for in Lucy J. Odom's 1921 
Worth Co. will, inheriting 1/2 of her land in the 1121th District, with the 
provision that son Henry Doss Odom would raise them. However, their uncle 
William A. Holt later applied for their guardianship in Worth Co. January 7, 
1924. They are in his household-listed as niece & nephew-on the 1930 census.
