H. Jenkins and Sheriff Herman Plowden went down to Sumner Monday to attend the funeral of Mr. J. D. Bridges, which occurred Tuesday morning. Mr. Bridges, father-in-law of Mr. Harry Jenkins, formerly of Edison, was killed Sunday night about 8 o’clock in an automobile wreck. He had gone to Sylvester for a block of ice and soon after leaving the plant he ran off a high embankment, but it is general thought he suffered a stroke of apoplexy which caused the wreck, as but few bruises were found on his body. Mr. Bridges was one of the welthiest [sic] men of that county and was a highly respected and useful citizen.
