(Tom) Strathairn as Big Island agent for Inter- Island Steam Navigation Co. and promotion of Wilmar A. Elliot to the position was announced in Honolulu today by Stanley C. Kennedy, president of the transportation company. Strathairn joined Inter-Island in 1920 and has been associated with the company continuously since that time. At the time of his retirement he was the third oldest in point of service among the hundreds of Inter-Island employees. Strathairn came to the islands shortly after World War I in which he served with the Scottish troops. As a token of his long service, Strathairn was presented with a gold watch by Kennedy. Presentation was made before a gathering of company directors, officials and veteran employees. Strathairn has been a member of the Hawaii county police commission and member and chairman of the liquor commission. He has a daughter, Miss Pamela Strathairn, a son, Dr. Thomas Scott Strathairn and a grandchild.
