Orr jessicanorr@gmail.com March 5, 2012, 9:05 pm UNKNOWN NEWSPAPER November 12, 1949 NEW YORK, Nov. 12, -- The marriage of Miss Alice Adele Hedemann and James Campbell Shingle November 4 united two kamaaina families of Honolulu. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Erling H. Hedemann of Lanikai and the bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Charles K. Amalu and the late Robert W. Shingle of Honolulu. Officiating in the Little Church Around the Corner was the Rev. Heald. Hartwell Carter of Parker ranch, Hawaii, gave the bride away. The bride wore an ice blue satin suit with black accessories. She was attended by Mrs. Julia W. Brown of Honolulu. Luis O. Drake was best man. Among those present at the ceremony were several Honolulans. The newlyweds are honeymooning in upper Maine and will be home at 193 Western Ave. in West Brattleboro, Vt., after Thanksgiving. The new Mrs. Shingle and her husband were graduated from Punahou. She later attended the Anna Head school in Berkeley, Calif., and the Coronado School of Fine Arts at Coronado, Calif. Mr. Shingle is a student at Marlboro college, Vt. He also attended Menlo junior college in California and the Sorbonne in France. He served for three years in the navy during World War II.
