Orr jessicanorr@gmail.com March 2, 2012, 8:45 pm KEKAHA NEWS January 1949 G. W. (Jerry) Fisher was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts and at 44 is one of the youngest of Kekaha’s directors. He was married in 1930 to Margaret Ellery Sloggett of Hanamaulu, Kauai and they are the parents of two boys and one girl. Today Jerry Fisher is the executive vice president of the Bishop Trust Co. in Honolulu and is a director or officer of 17 other corporations. This tribute to his business ability did not just “happen”. He had a long and intensive career in study and actual experience before he was entrusted with his present heavy responsibilities. He was educated at mainland public schools in preparation for Princeton University from which he graduated with the class of 1926. In 1928 he joined the Hawaiian Sugar Planters’ Association and shortly afterwards started work for Kahuku Plantation where he stayed eight years learning the sugar business thoroughly. Just 12 years ago he joined the Bishop Trust Company as a clerk and has remained with them ever since. Jerry Fisher’s life does not revolve entirely around his business. He is fond of hiking and horseback riding, and raising orchids is a particularly favorite past-time. With three growing children ranging in ages from 8 years to 17, it is not surprising to see his name as trustee for the Hilo Boarding School, the Kauikeolani Children’s Hospital and Punahou School.
