Alexander, was well known here, in her earlier years a frequent visitor. The following news story was published in the Oakland Tribune after her recent death.) Oakland, Calif.,--Cash bequests totaling $36,000, including $20,000 for the First Congregational church of Oakland, were included in the will of Miss Juliette Alexander, filed for probate in the Alameda county superior court. The total value of the estate, which will take several months to appraise, will run into several hundred thousands of dollars, it is believed. Besides the gift to the church, Miss Alexander, member of a prominent shipping and sugar family here and in Hawaii, left $8,000 each to two employes, W. B. Hardy, of 4256 Piedmont Ave., and Walter Miller, 1060 62nd Ave., both of Oakland. “Quedo Morada,” her home at 19 Craig Ave., Piedmont, was left to a sister, Miss Annie Alexander of 212 19th St., Oakland. Further bequests she had planned to make to this sister were omitted at the latter’s request, according to the will. One item from the home, the grand piano in the sun room, was bequeathed to Mrs. Martha A. Gerbode, a niece living at 2560 Divisadero St., San Francisco. Mrs. Gerbode is the daughter of the late Wallace M. Alexander. Piedmont capitalist and civic leader who was an executive of the Matson Navigation Co. and a Hawaiian oil company and had interest in a sugar plantation. Mrs. Gerbode is also to receive one third of the balance of the estate not specifically left for other relatives. Four children share. Another one third is to be shared by the four children of another sister, Mrs. Martha Waterhouse of Honolulu. They are Mrs. Martha W. Hurd of 115 Lexford Rd., Piedmont, and John T. Alexander Cooke and Richard Star Waterhouse, all of Honolulu. Mrs. Martha Waterhouse will receive the revenue from another one third left in trust. On her death, the trust fund will be divided between her children. A beach home at Kailua, Oahu, Hawaii, was also left Mrs. Waterhouse. A third piece of property, “Yolanda,” on the Clayton highway in Contra Costa, will go to Mrs. Hurd. Miss Alexander named John T. Waterhouse and Frank L. Gerbode her nephews, as executors and Waterhouse and her sister, Annie, as trustees. The estate is being handled by Attorney Stanley J. Smith, who filed the petition for probate.
