Last week, Mr. Neves was honored at the Old Timers' Roster party by Dairymen's Association for his half century of service with the company. At 70, he could afford to retire comfortably at any time but he is too active to give up work yet. He now handles inter-office mail communications. Born in Pahala, Hawaii, he went to work for the company as an office boy in 1903. Then he was a night watchman and later a can washer in the milk plant. When he took his first route as a driver salesman, milk wagons were horse- drawn. There were only five retail routes and a wholesale route at that time. He worked his way up to head five routes in Kaimuki at one time in his career. He had to give up his route in 1940 when he injured his knee. SAW WORLD'S FAIR He visited the San Francisco World's Fair -on the company- and while there purchased for his company a bottle capping and filling machine-first of its kind in Hawaii. for a no-accident record in his many years of driving, Mr. Neves was awarded a gold-star medal by the Traffic Safety Commission. He lives with Mrs. Neves at 2305 Wilder Avenue. Their two sons, Melvin and Vernon, work at Hickam Air Force Base. The senior Neves' also have two grandchildren. At the Old Timers' Roster party, the "No. 1 Milkman" was presented with a mantle clock for faithful service.
