Waterhouse, president of the Bishop National Bank of Hawaii, Thursday announced the resignation and retirement of Robert McBryde Purvis, 56, as an officer of the bank. Mr. Purvis’ withdrawal will become effective Saturday. Born in Lihue, Kauai, he has been employed by the bank for more than 35 years. Starting as an office boy in 1913, after leaving Lehigh university, he progressed through all departments to become an executive officer. Mr. Purvis attended public schools on Kauai and Punahou school before going to the mainland. He was married here in 1930 to the former Thyrza Louise Hunkin. They have two daughters. The banker, who lives at 3920 Noela drive, served with the navy in World War I and during World War II was a member of the Honolulu police reserves. A member of the Commercial club and the Waialae Golf club, he is also a director of the McBryde Sugar Co.
