The Honolulu Advertiser, October 28, 1989
  Kama Akamine, 100, of Honolulu, formerly of Waiakea Uka, Hawaii, died Oct. 
17, 1989. He was born in Okinawa, Japan, and was a gardener retired from 
Waiakea Plantation. Survived by sons, Herbert H., James J., Mike E. of 
California, Ralph N., Richard G.; daughters, Mrs. John (Jessie Y.) Varble, 
Marion M.; 21 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. Memorial service held. 
Arrangements by Hosoi Garden Mortuary.
