Black, a lifelong resident of the islands, died Sunday morning at Maluhia Home after a short illness. Funeral services are pending arrival of daughters from the mainland. Mrs. Black was born in Hana, Maui, in 1886. She had lived in Hilo prior to coming to Oahu. She was a graduate of Maunaolu Seminary at Paia, Maui. Surviving relatives include a daughter, Mrs. Betty Leilani Alexander, an employe of The Advertiser. Other children include sons Lloyd L. Schmitt Jr., Lewis Lee Black Jr., Robert C. Black, all of Honolulu, and Adair K. Schmitt, Los Angeles, and Henry Schmitt of California; daughters, Mrs. Rachel Halford of San Rafael, Calf., and Mrs. Genevieve Windler of Midwest City, Okla., and 15 grandchildren.
