Orr jessicanorr@gmail.com February 16, 2012, 4:53 pm Unknown newspaper, March 1, 1949 MRS. DESHA, 85, DIES AT HOME Mrs. Isabella Desha, 85, widow of the late George L. Desha, former postmaster of Hilo, died at the family residence, 1325 8th Ave., at 5:43 p.m. Monday.* Mrs. Desha was born at Honuaula, Maui, Jan. 16, 1864. She was the mother of seven children, four of whom survive. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. P. C. Beamer of Hilo, and Mrs. Ida Hutchinson of Honolulu, two sons, Edwin Desha, county clerk of the Island of Hawaii, and David L. Desha, of Honolulu. She also was the mother of William Desha, George Desha, Jr., and Alexander Desha, all deceased. Mrs. Desha leaves 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and four great- great-grandchildren. The grandchildren include Supervisor Milton D. Beamer, of Honolulu, Mrs. Harriet Beamer Magoon, secretary to Mayor Wilson, and Francis Beamer of Honolulu. The body will be on view from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Williams mortuary. Services will be held at the mortuary at 2 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Stephen L. Desha, Jr., officiating.
