DWIGHT, ATTORNEY A sudden heart attack claimed the life early today of Charles B. Dwight, 53, 3002 Kalakaua Ave. Mr. Dwight, a Honolulu attorney and member of a prominent kamaaina family, was stricken by a heart attack at 1:30 a.m. in his home. He had suffered slight spells of illness for the past two or three years. A private family service will be held in the home at 8 a.m. today with cremation to follow at the Williams mortuary. Burial will be in the Nuuanu cemetery with a graveside service at 4:30 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Henry P. Judd will officiate. Members of the family ask that flowers be omitted and request that donations, if made, be sent to Lunalilo home, as a memorial. Mr. Dwight is survived by his widow, Mrs. Olive Henry Dwight, and a 22 year old son, Charles Bishop Dwight III, a senior student at Yale university, New Haven, Conn. In addition, there are two brothers and two sisters, Joseph L. Dwight, James A. Dwight, Mrs. C. W. Spitz and Mrs. Alfred K. Smythe, all of Honolulu. BORN IN HONOLULU Mr. Dwight was born in Honolulu April 26, 1895, the son of Charles B. and Ellen Norton Dwight. He graduated from McKinley high school in 1914, later took his law degree at Georgetown university, Washington, D.C., in 1922. He was married in 1922 to Miss Olive Henry of Easton, Md. While attending Georgetown university law school, he served at Washington as private secretary to the late Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalanianaole, former delegate to congress. He also served in the same capacity to Delegate Harry Baldwin of Maui. RESIGNED IN 1927 Mr. Dwight became a deputy attorney general on April 1, 1923, and held the position continuously until August 2, 1927, when he handed in his resignation to Attorney General William B. Lymer. On September 1 of that year Mr. Dwight opened offices for the private practice of law. At the time of his death he had a law office in the Damon building. He was active in legal circles, as a Republican, in the Honolulu Chamber of Commerce, the Hawaiian Civic association and several other organizations. COURTS CLOSE The territorial supreme court and circuit courts were closed today in respect to Mr. Dwight’s memory. District court in the police station also was adjourned. Senior Judge Harry Steiner adjourned the courts, including two traffic courts in the old post office building, at 9:30 a.m. The cases pending on today’s calendar were fitted into future calendars before the courts were adjourned.
