Orr jessicanorr@gmail.com September 19, 2012, 6:16 pm The Honolulu Star-Bulletin, April 12, 1956 Dr. William French Is Dead at Age 60 In San Francisco Graveside services will be held for Dr. William O. French, 60, a physician with the Alsup Clinic since 1932. He died yesterday in Stanford Hospital, San Francisco, after brain surgery Tuesday. He had been hospitalized since January. His wife, Vera Watson French of 3107 Oahu Avenue will return with his ashes in several weeks for interment in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. Masonic rites will be conducted. Dr. French who was also a partner in the clinic came to Honolulu in 1932 after his discharge from the Army. He was active in professional organizations and served as a member of the Territorial Board of Health from 1943 to 1946. Besides Mrs. French, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Henry E. Pitts of Selma, Alabama, son, William T. French of Glendale, California; mother, Mrs. French ______, Selma, brother, _ Frank____ French of ______, California and five granddaughters. Born in Kansas. Born May 6, 1895 in Topkea, Kansas. Mr. French was educated in California and Washington, receiving his Master of Arts and Doctor of Medicine degrees from Stanford University. He was a member of the American Medical Association, fellow of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, Honolulu County Medical Society, Territorial Medical Society and the American Heart Association. Also the Oahu Country Club, Masonic Shriners, York Rite, Society of Sigma Xi Delta Sigma Phi and Alpha Kappa Kappa.
