PASSES AFTER LONG ILLNESS Mrs. Albert Horner Sr., mother of Albert Horner of Wailua, died Wednesday afternoon in St. Francis Hospital in Honolulu after a long illness. Services were held Friday afternoon at the family plot at the Nuuanu cemetery. Mrs. Horner was 87. Formerly Florence Winter, Mrs. Horner was born February 4, 1861, in Galesburg, Ill. After attending Knox College in Galesburg, she came to Honolulu with two sisters to teach and was married in January, 1891 to Albert Horner Sr. of Kuakaiau Plantation at Hamakua, Hawaii. The family lived there until 1912 when it moved to Nuuanu Valley to make its home. The senior Mr. Horner died on May 18, 1930. Surviving are two sons, Mr. Horner of Wailua, manger of Hawaiian Canneries at Kapaa, and John M. Horner of Honolulu, as well as seven grandchildren. These are Albert Horner III, Mary Elizabeth and Marjorie Alice, son and daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Horner; Jean Elizabeth and Beatrice, children of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Horner, Mrs. Barbara Hunkin of Cleveland, Ohio, daughter of the late William Foster Horner. Additional Comments: D.O.D taken from tombstone picture.
