MEYER DIES AT HOME; RITE FRIDAY Mrs. Charlotte Ericksen Meyer kamaaina widow of August William Meyer, founder of Meyer Drug Co., died at 3:10 p.m. Wednesday* at the residence, 1817 Anapuni St. Mrs. Meyer had been ill for the past several months. She was 76. Services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Williams mortuary. Later her ashes will be scattered at sea. The family requests no flowers be sent, but contributions may be made to the Hawaii Heart society. Born Oct. 21, 1873 in Dramman, Norway, Mrs. Meyer came to the islands in 1881 with her parents, Capt. And Mrs. Han Ericksen after a trip around Cape Horn in her father’s sailing vessel. Mr. Meyer arrived here in 1894 to practice pharmacy. They were married in 1900. Mrs. Meyer attended Punahou school at the old Fort St. location, received her nurse’s training at St. Luke’s hospital in San Francisco, and practiced her profession for several years following her return. Mrs. Meyer nursed “the boys in blue” who were en route to Manila in 1898 when typhoid broke out here. She was active in Red Cross work during World War I. Surviving are two sons, Charles E. Meyer, assistant department head at Lewers & Cooke, Ltd., and August William Meyer, Jr., of the Meyer Drug Co.; a sister, Mrs. Volborg Ericksen Nelson; a brother, Han Ericksen of San Francisco, three grandsons and two granddaughters.
