Mrs. Ellen Bicknell O達rien, who served for more than 30 years with the department of public instruction, died Thursday* afternoon at the Queen痴 hospital. Mrs. O達rien was born June 17, 1870, in Kohala, Hawaii. She was the daughter of the Rev. James Bicknell and Ellen Bond Bicknell, and the granddaughter of Elias Bond of Kohala. She attended Punahou school, Oberlin college, and was graduated from Connecticut State normal school, at New Britain, Conn. Mrs. O達rien was for six years a member of the faculty of the Kamehameha Boys Preparatory school, and later served with the department of public instruction. She is survived by one son, Torlogh D. O達rien; two granddaughters, Patricia Louise, and Margaret Ellen; a brother, James Bicknell, former city-county auditor; a nephew, Dr. William Storey; nieces, Miss Gertrude Storey, Mrs. Marion Cockshutt, Mrs. Alice S. Faulkner, Mrs. Doreen B. Griep and Mrs. Ellen Wilson. Services were to be announced today.
