Rohrig, 68, retired Honolulu manager for Albers Bros. Milling Co., who died in the Queen’s hospital at 11:50 p.m. Monday.* Internment in the Nuuanu cemetery will be private. The family requests that no flowers be sent, but that persons desiring to pay tribute to Mr. Rohrig’s memory may send contributions to the Lutheran church building fund. Williams mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. Mr. Rohrig, whose home was at 2146 Kamehameha Ave., is survived by the widow, Mrs. Johanna K. Rohrig; a daughter, Mrs. Herbert M. Richards, the former Leilani Rohrig; a brother Oscar Rohrig, and a sister, Mrs. Auguste Ward, in Germany; a niece, Miss Helene Wolters of Honolulu; four grandchildren, and several other nieces and nephews. Mr. Rohrig, came to Hawaii at the instance of his uncle, the late Paul Isenberg, a noble in the days of the monarchy and a leading figure in the sugar industry of Kauai and elsewhere in the Islands, and remained here to make his home. Born on Oct. 29, 1879, in Linden, Hanover, Germany, the son of Wilhelm and Anna Rohrig, he was graduated from the college of Linden. He arrived in Honolulu on June 26, 1901, and became timekeeper at the Lihue Plantation Co., Kauai, remaining there for two years. He then went to Hilo as bookkeeper for the Hawaii Mill Co., and returned to Kauai in 1905 as bookkeeper for the Koloa Sugar Co. Two years later he was appointed manager of the Lihue store, Kauai, where he remained until 1919, when he resigned to become Honolulu manager for Albert Bros. Milling Co. He retired last Dec. 31. He married Johanna K. Sohlman on July 30, 1907. Mr. Rohrig had been treasurer of the Hawaiian School of Religion, and president of the Lutheran church council for many years. He was a member of the Outrigger Canoe Club, Honolulu Rotary Club and Honolulu Chamber of Commerce. Additional Comments: *Monday noted as February 9, 1948.
