Funeral services will be held at 1:15 p.m. Saturday at Ordenstein's Mortuary 
for Dorothy Kaai Scharsch, 48, sister of Mrs. Flora K. Hayes, former 
Republican legislator. Mrs. Scharsch who lived at Waiahole Valley, Kaneohe, 
died Tuesday at the Queen's Hospital, several weeks after under going surgery. 
Friends may call at the mortuary tomorrow from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 8 
a.m. to 2 p.m. burial Kaahumanu cemetery. The Reverend Ella Wise Harrison will 
officiate. Asked to attend. Members of Hale O Na Alii Society and Ahahui 
Kaahumanu are requested to attend services. Mrs. Scharsch belonged to both 
groups and also was secretary of American Legion, John Rowe Post 17. Born 
December 26, 1907, in South Kona, Hawaii, she is survived by her husband, 
Joseph, daughter, Mrs. Harriet Asuncion; son, Private Lewis Waiau Kawewehi who 
returned recently from Korea; adopted daughter, Mrs. Minnie Toomey Medeiros, 
and 11 grandchildren. Also two other sisters, Mrs. Katherine Kaeo of Kona and 
Mrs. Elizabeth Leong; three brothers, Benjamin of Chicago, Paul and David; 
nieces and nephews.
