Orr jessicanorr@gmail.com December 12, 2012, 4:51 pm Honolulu Star-Bulletin, Saturday, May 1, 1948 Nola Benton Weds Walter Bergman In Evening Service At Our Lady of Peace cathedral on April 3, Miss Nola Ramona Benton, daughter of Mrs. Rose Ornellas, became the bride of Walter Richard Bergman, son of Mrs. Alice Bergman. The Rev. Father Victorinus Claesen performed the ceremony in the early evening. The bride, who was given in marriage by her brother in law, Frederick Wilhelm, wore a white lace gown with princess lines detailed with seed pearls and matching long gloves. Her long veil was caught to a tiara of seed pearls. She wore a pearl necklace and carried a bouquet of white orchids. Mrs. Jacqueline Silva, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. She was frocked in a blue marquisette gown with matching long gloves and carried a spray of vanda orchids. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Marie Louis and Mrs. Mildred Raynor who were gowned in yellow and orchid marquisette and carried sprays of vanda orchids. Flower girls, Wallis and Eileen Reeves, nieces of the bride, were gowned in pink marquisette and carried baskets of pink roses. Best man was Edward Clement. Ushers were David Silva and Donald Olsen. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Republican club, where a buffet dinner and dancing was enjoyed. The bride is with the Consolidated Amusement Co. as a cashier, and the groom is with the Standard Oil Co.
