Orr jessicanorr@gmail.com July 31, 2014, 12:52 am The Honolulu Advertiser, Sunday, June 6, 1937 Agnes Caufield Becomes Bride Of Army Officer Simplicity marked the military wedding of Miss Agnes Caufield, daughter of Mrs. Thomas Caufield of Newark, N.J., and Leiut. Thurston W. Morris, son of Mrs. Roy Morris of Colo., solemnized Thursday at the Schofield quarters of Col. and Mrs. Bernard Lentz. Chaplain William J. Ryan officiated at the afternoon ceremony. The petite brunette bride, given in marriage by Col. Lentz, Twenty-first Infantry commanding officer, chose white lace over satin. The gown was designed along princess lines with tight bodice buttoned down the back, sleeves puffed to the elbows, and a high neckline. Orange blossoms held the finger-tip length veil of clouded tulle to the coiffure. She carried a prayer book from which fell a ribbon shower of white buds. Mrs. Aloysius E. McCormick Jr., the matron of honor, wore a chiffon afternoon frock of aquamarine blue trimmed in yellow. A juliet cap of yellow blossoms matched her old-fashioned bouquet. Lieut. McCormick, a West Point classmate of the bridegroom was best man. The ushers, who formed the traditional arch of sabers for the recessional, included Lieut. Charles Billingslea, Lieut. Robert Blodgett, Lieut. Clyde Layne and Lieut. Edmund Miles. A small reception followed the ceremony. The rooms of the Lentz home were attractively arranged with great clusters of tropical blossoms and greenery. The bride cut the tiered wedding cake with her husband's sword. After a short trip the young couple will be at home at Schofield. The new Mrs. Morris arrived from the Coast on the Monterey Monday and was the guest of Lieut. and Mrs. McCormick for a few days. Lieut. Morris graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1936 and is on duty with the Twenty-first Infantry.
