Orr jessicanorr@gmail.com March 3, 2014, 8:46 pm The Honolulu Advertiser, Sunday, June 9, 1935 June Wedding Lovely Affair Late Thursday Simplicity marked the ceremony uniting in marriage Miss Margaret Elizabeth Isenberg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Bernhard Isenberg, and Montgomery Clark, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest B. Clark, Thursday afternoon at five o'clock at the Kakela drive home of the bride's parents. Only close relatives and intimate friends were present at the ceremony, which was solemnized by the Rev. Mr. Henry P. Judd. Mr. Isenberg gave his daughter in marriage. Shell ginger, Easter and calla lilies filled large jars placed on either side of a wall panel arranged with shell ginger blossoms and leaves, forming the background for the ceremony. Tall candelabras completed the setting. Lilies and orchids decorated the rooms throughout the home. The bride was a lovely picture in her gown of soft dull-finished white crepe modelled along princess lines, with a long train and Dolman sleeves that narrowed at the wrists. A long tulle veil was fastened to the Marie Stuart cap by tiny orange blossoms at the back. The bride carried three long sprays of white butterfly orchids, detailed with ferns and centered with large double orchids. Mrs. John S. Trotter, her sister's matron of honor; Miss Kathleen Clark, sister of the bridegroom; and Miss Betty Isenberg, younger sister of the newly- wed Mrs. Clark, wore summer organdy frocks fashioned alike and differentiated only by color-Mrs. Trotter in deep coral pink, and Miss Clark and Miss Isenberg in pastel green. The frocks were designed along tunic lines, with ruffles edging the round necklines and tunic hems. Double sheaves of tiny white daisies and white snapdragons were carried by the attendants. Mrs. Isenberg, mother of the bride, wore a flowered chiffon gown predominant in shades of old rose and blue. Mrs. Clark, mother of the bridegroom, wore flowered green chiffon. Both complemented their gowns with strands of pikake leis. Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the garden under a marquee. Receiving with the bridal couple were their parents. White daisies and lilies decorated the bride's table. Assisting Mrs. Isenberg were Mrs. David Oleson, Mrs. George Vicars, Mrs. Albert Baker and Miss Helen Severance. For her going-away gown, the young Mrs. Clark chose a white lona cloth outfit over which was worn a yellow wool jacket. Her hat was of the same dress material, and her accessories all white. The couple will be at home at 4404 Kahala avenue after the middle of June.
