Orr jessicanorr@gmail.com December 12, 2012, 9:26 pm Honolulu Star-Bulletin, Saturday, May 1, 1948 Makiki Ceremony Unites Miss Suetake And Thomas Yomen Miss Esther Fukumi Suetake married Thomas Haruichi Yomen in ceremonies held at the Makiki Christian church March 27. In a gladioli setting Izumi Suetake gave his sister in marriage. She wore a white satin gown with marquisette yoke detailed with seed pearls. Her flowers were large white cattleya orchids. A pearl necklace, gift of the bridegroom was worn. Miss Vivian Kunishi was maid of honor. She wore a blue taffeta gown with a shirred skirt and carried an orchid bouquet. Bridemaids were Miss Umeno Fukuda of Hilo and Miss Bertha Yuen and Miss Dorothy Chang, both of Honolulu. They wore similar gowns of chartreuse taffeta and carried orchids. Flower girls were little Misses Sharon Akinioto and Margaret Totki. Both wore pink taffeta dresses and carried baskets of vanda orchids. Shigeo Warashina was best man. Ushering were Hiroshi Kato, Tokushi Tanaka, Kick Uemora, Windy Fujii and Edward Yomen. A reception followed at the Rainbow Gardens. The bride is a graduate of Hilo high school and is with the transportation department of Dairymen's association. The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Juichi Yomen, was granduated from McKinley high school. He is manager of Island Auto Parts.
