Orr jessicanorr@gmail.com July 31, 2014, 1:32 am The Honolulu Advertiser, Sunday, June 6, 1937 Joan* Whaley Is Married To Hans Behrens Miss Jean Whaley, daughter of Mrs. Edyth Whaley of Seattle, Wash., became the bride of Mr. Hans Behrens, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hans Behrens of Hanover, Germany, at a simple ceremony yesterday morning at St. Andrew's cathedral. Dean William Ault read the marriage lines. The bride, given in marriage by Dr. Rudolph Benz, wore a sport ensemble of white silk with accessories to match. Her flowers were an orchid corsage. Mr. and Mrs. Foster Blake were the only attendants. Mr. and Mrs. Behrens sailed on the Lurline yesterday at noon for an eight months honeymoon trip throughout Europe. Mr. Behrens is a merchant importer and arrived in Honolulu on the Empress of Canada last Thursday. The couple will make their home in Soerbaya, Java, where Mr. Behrens makes his headquarters. Mrs. Behrens, was a nurse at the Queen's hospital. She was graduated from the Seattle Hospital Training school, affiliated with the University of Washington. During her stay in Honolulu she lived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Heine Walters at Kamamalu.
